Sean W. Scoggin

Sean’s emphasis is on trial practice and complex civil litigation. He has been involved in countless jury trials in the state courts of Wyoming, and a multitude of bench trials, as well as in numerous evidentiary hearings, mediations and arbitrations.

Sean has defended a wide variety of lawsuits including personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, on the job accidents, and slip and falls, industrial accidents, construction defects, mining industry accidents, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, burn injuries, carbon monoxide exposure, trucking/semi accidents, design and manufacturing defects, and Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims arising out of railroad negligence and injuries to employees of railroad operators.

Sean also represents injured workers and employers in workers’ compensation cases in Wyoming at the administrative level, District Court level and in appeals before the Wyoming Supreme Court. He extensive litigation experience defensing insurance companies against bad faith claims.

Sean’s mediation services are also called upon by other attorneys to help resolve a variety of legal disputes including mediation for personal injury, auto accident, industrial, domestic and child custody matters. Sean’s experience in a wide range of cases throughout his career make him well-suited to assist parties in a dispute see the benefits of resolution before trial and the potential costs and disadvantages to resolving disputes without mediation. He can also help your clients understand the right time to take their case to trial.

Sean also works with families in the adoption process. He has helped families through the confusing and sometimes difficult process of adopting children. Adoption is an area of practice that he finds particularly rewarding and he has a personal understanding of the difficulties and benefits of adoption and works with families to understand the process.
